McDonough Manufacturing Welcomes Ryan Marrs as Sales Representative

Forestry is often described as an old industry, and it is true that many mills and the communities around them have been operating for generations. What is sometimes overlooked is how much those operations have evolved, and how much the companies supporting them have evolved as well.

In 1888, Wisconsin’s pine forests were still vast and largely untouched. Towns were growing, sawmills were multiplying, and lumber was essential to building homes and communities across the country. Eau Claire had the rivers and the timber. What it needed was dependable equipment to turn those logs into usable lumber.

Family owned operations are the backbone of the forest products industry, and that commitment to long term growth is evident at Devereaux Sawmill. With deep roots in their regional forestry community, the Devereaux team continues to invest in modern, efficient equipment to support both production capacity and product quality.

Work continues in the Eau Claire shop on a 6 foot Quad Band Mill being built for Two Rivers Lumber Company, a Southern Yellow Pine producer that is in the midst of a significant mill expansion in Alabama.

In every sawmill, profit starts long before the first board is cut. It begins with design, how the equipment is built, how materials move through the line, and how easily operators can keep everything running at its best.

The lumber industry is one of the oldest in North America. It was built on hard work, craftsmanship, and pride in doing things the right way. But like every great industry, it continues to evolve.

At our shop in Woodstock, New Brunswick, we’ve earned a reputation for building full-scale machines and industrial systems. But not every job that comes through our doors is massive.

At McDonough Manufacturing, we are proud to collaborate with McShan Lumber, a family-owned business dating back to 1907. A southern yellow pine mill in Alabama, McShan has a long-standing tradition of quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction. We’re excited to support McShan with the development of their new 62" twin horizontal, which replaces their obsolete vertical resaw.

We’re making good progress on the custom-built 6’ Resaw system for Jones Lumber, and things are starting to come together. The system features a Maxx infeed, full run around setup, cant turners, roll cases, and a 3 press roll capable of processing cants up to 24” x 24”. It’s a big step toward improving flow and efficiency for our valued partner.
