Welcoming Ryan Marrs to McDonough
McDonough Manufacturing Welcomes Ryan Marrs as Sales Representative
McDonough Manufacturing is pleased to welcome Ryan Marrs as Sales Representative, adding more than two decades of hands-on industry experience to the team.
Ryan brings 21 years in the hardwood lumber industry, with a background that spans logging, lumber inspection, headsaw and resaw operations, sawmill and plant management, engineering, capital projects, and multi-site operations. He has worked his way through the business from the production floor to management, giving him a well-rounded understanding of how mills operate day to day.
He attended the NHLA Lumber Inspection School and completed a Project Management course through Syracuse University. Most of his knowledge, however, comes from years of working directly in mills and learning what works and what does not in real operating conditions.
“We’re really excited to have Ryan joining our team,” said Matt Tietz. “His background of determining what type of machinery should go into a mill, and then installing and running that machinery, will provide incredible hands-on experience, exactly what our customers value. He understands how mills operate and what it takes to keep them running efficiently. That kind of practical knowledge makes a difference, and we’re looking forward to the impact he’ll have working with our customers.”
One of Ryan’s key strengths is his practical approach to equipment. Having spent his career around mill equipment, he understands how lay out a mill for optimal flow, maintenance, bottlenecks, and overall profitability. His focus is simple: helping customers find solutions that are reliable, easy to maintain, and make a measurable difference.
Throughout his career, Ryan has managed multiple sawmill operations, led capital improvement projects, and worked closely with equipment suppliers. Now he will be able to help customers make the best machinery that fit their operation.
“I’ve spent my career working through many of the same challenges mills face every day,” said Marrs. “I’m looking forward to helping customers find practical solutions that improve their operations and keep them competitive.”
Originally from Pennsylvania, Ryan now lives in Western New York with his wife Beth and their seven children. Outside of work, he enjoys construction projects, operating equipment, working on his property, camping, and spending time with his family, often supporting his kids in their many sporting activities.

Ryan’s addition reflects McDonough’s continued focus on building trust with our customers by pairing experience with long-term customer support, ensuring mills have access to knowledgeable, practical guidance when it matters most.
