Welder/Fabricator

Applicants for this position will be required to directly impact the success of McDonough by:

  • Set up welding equipment and prepare material for welding.
  • Lay out, fit, and weld assemblies from blueprints with the use of GMAW/SMAW welding processes.
  • Perform skilled welding in the fabrication of machinery.
  • Operate other shop equipment needed to prepare components for welding/fabrication.
  • Perform quality checks in accordance with company standards.
  • Operate a forklift, overhead crane, or jib crane safely.
  • Maintain a clean work environment.
  • Ability to lift 50-75 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements - Experience and Skills

Applicants for this position should have the following credentials and/or equivalent experience:

  • 5 or more years’ experience fitting and welding in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in GMAW/SMAW welding processes, Oxy Fuel Torching, Plasma Cutting, Arc-Gouging.
  • High attention to detail with experience building weldments from blueprints.
  • Knowledge of applicable safety standards and a commitment to work safely.
  • Strong problem-solving skills: able to identify problems and execute effective solutions.
  • Overhead Crane, Jib Crane, and rigging experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to listen and take direction.
  • Willingness to be a team player and help train less experienced employees.

This position is for a day shift position M-F 6:30AM – 3PM with the possibility of overtime when needed.
